You arrive with one tedious task already mapped on paper, and you leave with one small automation that actually runs: a form response comes in, an AI step reads the messy human request and turns it into clean fields, a row lands in your log, and a draft reply waits for you to approve it. Zapier, Make, and Microsoft Power Automate each get a real path. No coding, and I'll be straight with you about what's free, what isn't, and what two hours can honestly produce.
Before you start: Class 08 or Class 07, or comfortable using ChatGPT or Claude for real work and working in a spreadsheet, with about 30 minutes of pre-work done before class.

Enough to build one small automation that genuinely runs: a form comes in, AI reads it, a row is logged, a draft waits for you, and anything suspicious goes to you instead. That's the hard part and the part most people never get past. Branching for rush jobs, error handling and a failure alert, a test plan, and a run book someone else could follow are the follow-on lab, which starts from what you build here.
Not to finish the class. Make and Zapier have free tiers, and there's a free way to add an AI step, though free tiers limit how often your automation runs. Some pieces (certain multi-step features, AI steps on some platforms) cost money, and we'll name each one so you can decide later.
Yes, and it gets a full path in this class, including its built-in approval step. You'll need a work or school account that can open Power Automate and permission from whoever runs your IT. Its AI step usually uses paid credits; if your license doesn't include them, there's an honest hand-off fallback that still teaches every other piece.
